Torque converter motor - has series wound wide poles each formed by uniting main pole and commutator pole

The torque converter motor has its main pole and commutator pole united to form a single wide pole which is wound with a single series winding. Speed regulation, direction reversal and braking are all accomplished by shifting the brushes. The air-gap increases outwards from the centre of the wide pole. The brushes are shifted mechanically by a 'gas-pedal'. A reversing lever slikes the brush-bridge in the opposite direction when reversing the motor-s direction of rotation. The motor not only acts as a motor but also includes its own built-in torque conversion system.
