The plate protects surfaces from wear, particularly in hoppers etc. handlings abrasive material, and consists of a metallic supporting layer with bolts on the rear side at each corner, and an aluminium-oxide porcelain wear plate. The two are secured together by natural or synthetic rubberised glue by a burning process. A number of aluminium-oxide porcelain plates can be mounted on the supporting layer, forming ribs where they join. Compared with the conventional method whereby the wear plates are secured by mortar to the hopper walls, there is virtually no risk of them working loose through shock-loading.
|
