Input control for charge-coupled devices - has control electrode between first two pairs of phased transfer electrodes

The input charge control, for a charge coupled device, has an input control electrode to regulate the magnitude of the charge. This electrode is located between the two initial electrodes and the next pair of transport electrodes in the electrode series. All the transport electrodes are deposited in staggered form onto an SiO2 layer on top of a p-type silicon substrate. Alternate pairs of transport electrodes are coupled to one of two differently phased transfer signals. The control electrode is coupled via a gate to a signal source. This gate is controlled by one of the transfer signals.
