A cigarette holder uses tobacco, e.g. used portions of cigarettes as the filtering medium, so that instead of using a conventional filter substance which might detract from the flavour of the cigarette, this medium can improve the flavour. In one design, a plastics holder with a metal tip (4) has an end portion (2) long enough to hold a complete cigarette in its interior (5) attached by a connecting ring (3) to a mouthpiece portion (1) so that they can be easily separated to insert or remove the cigarette. In another design made of metal, the mouthpiece (1) is attached to an end portion (2) by a screwed joint (6), the space (5) inside the end portion (2) being much smaller.
