In a drum filter with filter segments fixed to the periphery of the drum by clamping elements and provided with filtrate discharge channels on the outside and support elements on the inside, the latter form partial filtrate discharge channels, the number of which, (pref. 2 or 4 per segment) arranged on the peripheral side edges of the segments. This reduces the return flow of filtrate when the filter cake is blown off and increases the rate of flow of filtrate so that deposition of fine particles passing through the filter cloth, particularly at the start of filtration does not take place, so that cleaning intervals are of greater duration.
