<p>The mechanism for longitudinal feeding of bars into an automatic lathe, has a straight feed tube for accommodating a bar and has a flexible feeding mechanism connected with a drive and it engages with the end of the bar for pushing the bar through the feed pipe. The flexible arrangement consists of a number of balls which are threaded on a steel wire and held in contact with each other by end stops and spring arrangement. The diameter of the ball is much smaller than the inside diameter of the feeder. The threaded ball assembly is pushed through a pipe which is parallel to the feeder tube and the tube for actuating elements has a bend so that the other arm of this tube is in line with the feeder tube. The bar pushing element is actuated by a power driven belt system. This actuating arrangement can be connected to feeder tubes with different diameters, and noise damping springs can be fitted into this feeder arrangement.</p> |
