<p>1405280 Collating and decollating webs INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 29 Dec 1972 [17 Jan 1972] 60156/72 Heading B8R [Also in Division B6] A plurality of superposed webs, B-F, have work performed thereon simultaneously at a work station, e.g. by a thumb notch punch 35, 35a, and are then separated and fed along respective paths of different lengths before being re-merged and severed to form multiple ply stationary sets, the results of the work thus being staggered in the sheets of each set. As described, seven webs, A-G are unwound from supply rolls, collated, fed through a printing station (not shown), fed through the separating station 10 and then re-merged and fed through impactor rolls 11, feed perforation punch rolls (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), numbering stations (14), (15), a longitudinal slitter (16), scoring and cutting stations (18), (19) and finally over a gripper drum (21) which deposits the cut stationery sets on a delivery belt (22). In station 10, the webs are fed over flanged rollers 30 driven 5% slower than pin feed tractors (13) to tension the webs. The webs A-G are separated and fed through various units in station 10, including perforating units 33, 34, thumb notch punches 35, 35a, glue hole punches, 37, 37a, scoring devices 36, 36a and glue spot applicators 32, 32a.</p> |
