摘要 <p>The protective arrangement against hollow charges for armoured fighting vehicles makes use of high melting temperature, low density materials. Alternatively the material can have a high evaporation temperature. This material neutralises the high temperature penetrating the metal core of the hollow charge by absorbing its energy. The steel armour plates have hollow recesses which accommodate, for example, pressed graphite. This material is of low weight and absorbs large quantities of thermal energy and hence greatly reduces the penetrating power of the hollow charge core. The use of lightweight material reduces the need for additional steel plate thickness which may have an adverse effect on the armoured vehicle design.</p>
