The manually operated wire-stripping pliers have two cutting blades at the ends of the pliers jaws. Each blade has a V-shaped notch or cutting edge and the two blades overlap so that the two opposing Vs form a square hole whose size decreases as the jaws are closed. The jaws are prevented from closing completely by two blocks set into the jaws behind the blades. Each block has a V-shaped recess at its end, whose angle is larger than the angle of the V in the blade. The blocks and their V-recesses are so shaped that the blades close only enough to cut through the insulation and do not touch the wire.
