The convertor operates by successive approximations. The chain resistors form at their junction points a binary series of reference voltages, which are either disconnected or retained. The convertor comprises further devices for the analogue voltage digital value display and/or storage after its conversion in accordance with the above binary series of reference voltages. Switches are for each resistor junction point for its voltage application to a common summation circuit, and a logic circuit operating each switch in turn. The switches are mounted outside the resistor network, and the logic circuit responds to the summation unit output in order to disconnect or retain the voltage applied to the input, depending on whether the summation unit output exceeds the analogue voltage or not.
