The device consists of a clamp-holder, holding a loop of the rope, and a clamping-roller, adjustably mounted on the clamp-holder, perpendicularly to the inlet and outlet for the rope. The roller is held, in relation to the clamp-holder, in a loosening position, by means of a support-spring, the force of which is adjusted to the tension in the unused part of the rope. The device makes adjustment of the rope easy, while the safety-rope is not under tension, and automatically arrests the safety-rope and holds it in the arrested position, in case of unusually high tension, so that the person securing the rope can immediately go to the rescue, in case of accident, of the casualty.
