Insulating board with high compressive strength esp for press - has embedded load-bearing inserts

An insulating board, esp. of the thermosetting resin reinforced with asbestos fibres, for use under high compression, has load-bearing inserts disposed at intervals within it. The depth of each insert equals the normal thickness of the board, the remainder of the board being pref. slightly thicker, to allow for elastic compression. The extra thickness is then pref. shared equallt between upper and lower faces, esp. with a recess in each surface around the end of each load-bearing insert. The board is used for vulcanising or other hot presses. The board is simple to construct and maintains its dimensions for a long time.
