<p>The stepping motor has a magnetic pole rotor, which itself acts as part of the drive train for the time display means, and a yoke which is made from a high-permeability magnetic material, forming two stator parts surrounding the rotor. The drive coil for the motor is located to one side of the rotor axis, with the two parts of the yoke gripping either end of the coil.
