The device is for machines with rotary parts insde, particularly washing machines, having an electrically-heated processing component working in conjunction with a spring-loaded bolt, which is moved by an electromagnet into the engaged position where it is locked by a catch. On moving in this direction the bolt actuates a switch cutting off current to the electromagnet, and when the processing component is heated it releases the catch and locks the bolt. The component is in the form of a self-or externally-heated wire, an externally-heated glass bar or expanding member, linked to a lever rocking on a pivot pin. The lever has a finger actuating the catch and a claw locking the bolt.
