Solid carbonaceous wastes are converted to a fuel gas by (a) heating and reacting the wastes with reactive gases in a gasification zone, to form combustible gas which is withdrawn from this zone, (b) (partly) burning a fraction of the combustible gas in a recycling combustion gas zone, to form hot recycle gas free from oxygen, and (c) passing this hot gas into the gasification zone to supply both heat and reactive gaseS. The solid wastes include household refuse, and industrial and agricultural wastes, e.g. cellulose materials (paper), dried sewage and plastics waste.
|
