Dispersible styptic compsn based on polymanuronic acid - contg an astringent soln and propellant

A dispersible styptic compsn. comprises (a) 2-8, pref. 4wt. % of a known styptic compsn. contg. polymanuronic acid, dissolved in (b) 50-60wt. % astringents which are soluble in water to the extent of 10-20%, esp. tannic acid; and (c), added to the soln., about 40wt. % (dry basis) of one or more fluorohydrocarbons or similar cpds. as propellant. Addn. is pref. effected with the styptic-astringent soln. in a pressure vessel fitted with a metering and atomising valve. Compsn. can be applied more quickly than compsns. where the styptic is supported on a solid carrier e.g., on dentistry or accident treatment.
