The hydraulic dynamometer is designed to facilitate application of maximal internal pressures in that it comprises two sections whose edges are screwed together or welded and which enclose an O-ring, or similar seal. Between this seal and the pressure plates on either side of it there is an elastic zone which is of circular cross-section and which remains unchanged in form when subjected to load. The dynamometer has a sealing screw, a protective ring to prevent the O-ring from moving under pressure and a flange for connection of a capillary tube. The dynamometer is of robust construction and is easy to assemble. There is an edge region which is of thin section and may be inflated or otherwise deformed to enclose the 'O' ring.
