<p>Feeder channel, for homogenising molten glass continuously from a melting furnace, is fitted with electrodes, for heating the stream of glass, and an oulet which, if necessary can be periodically closed by a plunger. The low furnace outlet is connected to a rising section of the channel, contg. hollow electrodes through which cooling water may be circulated, followed by a horizontal covered channel for homogenisation and then a vertical channel, with a round cross-section contg. a rotating stirrer; the ends of the blades of the stirrer are close to the wall of the channel and the leading edges of the blades are on top. Better thermal and chemical homogeneity of the glass leaving the outlet is obtd.</p> |
