1418728 Turning conveyed articles EMHART ZURICH SA 19 Jan 1973 [19 Jan 1972] 3012/73 Heading B8A [Also in Division G1] Glass containers on a conveyer 10 are diverted 47 to a flaw-testing station where they are rotated at least once on their vertical axis under a photo-electric inspection head (see Division G1). The containers enter the station via rail 47 and are first decelerated by belt 37, spaced by belt 39, rotated by a driven roller 57 co-operating with solenoid-operated pressure rollers 42, 43 which wrap part of a drive belt 38 about the container periphery 64, and returned to the main conveyer by conveyers 53, 54 and decelerating belt 52 or ejected by an air blast 212. The sequence of events, including running-up and stopping of roller 57, is controlled by proximity switches. Guide rollers coupled to the pressure roller arms 44, 46 locate the top of the containers during rotation.
