The burner comprises a central combustion chamber with a fuel/oxygen inlet and combustion gas outlet, surrounded by partition walls (1, 2) forming spiral inlet and outlet passages. In these the fuel/oxygen mixture and the gas flow in opposite directions. The partitions isolate the inlet and outlet passages, but give indirect heat transfer between mixture and gas. The passages can begin in the central combustion chamber and run towards the cylinder edge. The cylinder can have spiral-wound passages screwing into each other to form a toroid. The cross-sectional area of the central combustion chamber can be at least three times that of the inlet and outlet passages.
|
