<p>Each channel circuit of this phase or frequency modulated signal receiver using the diversity combination technique of reception is preamplified and split into two sections. The first has the main receiver, whilst the other has an attenuator, an auxiliary receiver and a phase shifter of radians. The two receiver outputs are summed and the resultant signal acts upon a variable gain amplifier. In this way a signal is obtained from each individual channel, proportional to the signal/noise ratio for the received channel which allows that channel to be noise-weighted. This improves upon, least, the instability of previous designs.</p> |
