1467648 Ventilators COLT INTERNATIONAL Ltd 31 Jan 1975 [7 Feb 1974] 5593/74 Heading F4V A louvred ventilator comprises parallel louvres 20, each as described in Specification 1,404,451 having longitudinal edge portions 20a, 20b on the same side of a plane intermediate portion, and supported at each end by a mullion having a flange 11a with slots 11b in its free edge for receiving and locating the edge portions 20a of the louvres, and a flange 12a at right angles to the flange 11a and with slots 12d in its free edge for receiving and locating the intermediate portions of the louvres 20. Each slot 11b includes a lip 11c to engage the free edge of the associated edge portion 20a. Fig. 3 shows a mullion for supporting the ends of two sets of louvres 20 and is defined by three channel members 11, 12, 13 riveted together at 14. The slots 12d are formed by cutting out spaced tabs 12b in the flange 12a. The tabs 12b are pressed out of the flange 12a to leave openings sufficiently large for the edge portions 20a to pass through into the slots 11b, whereupon the tabs 12b are pressed back into engagement with the intermediate portions of the louvres 20. Further spaced tabs 16 are pressed out from the member 13 to support a further set of louvres 17 in the manner described in Specification 1,405,748. Each louvre blade 17 also acts to hold a corresponding tab 12b in engagement with its louvre blade 20. Any rain water entering a space 30 between blades 17, 20 will run down the blade 20 and will drain from the edge portion 20a through spaces 32 in the mullions. Further sets of fixed and adjustable louvres may be arranged on the opposite side of louvres 20 to the louvres 17. |
