The heating rod is intended for immersion into the medium to be heated. The heat absorbing zone (A) is outside the medium to be heated, and a heat pipe (10) is provided for heat transmission to the heat emitting zone (C). The heat pipe has in the heat absorbing zone a widened diameter and forms, together with an electric resistance heater (4) a closed unit preferably several heat pipes are allocated to one common heater. The different heat pipes may be in the form of heating ribs on a central heat pipe. The part between the heat absorbing and heat emitting zones may be thermally insulated.
