Wood panel cut edges having improved finish - obtained by laminating with resin-impregnated decorative paper

The cut edges of wood panels esp. chipboard are given an improved finish by glueing-on cellulose-based sheet matl. contg. a resin, pref. an aminoplast. In practice, a cellulose-based non-decorative web is first applied to cover the roughnesses of the cut edges, and then a decorative cellulosic web of low weight per unit area, contg. a set (i.e. no longer flowable) resin is glued on top of that. The finish of the edges can be made identical with the surface of panel board.
