Monitor for tube mill bearing comprises an automatic monitoring member (7) for continuously detecting changes in position of a bearing pin (6) relative to the plain bearing half liners (3, 4) in which it is located, and for emitting a cut-out and/or alarm signal. The monitoring member is pref. mounted in the upper region of the bearing (1), and consists of a contactless sensor, pref. a proximity switch. The switch may be connected to a common control member (8) for the switch (27) for actuating the drive motor (26) of the tube mill and for an optical and/or acoustic alarm device (9, 10). The system requires the minimum of space for installing into the mill.
