The device uses horizontal screws engaging apertures in one of the glass sheet sandwiching side plates, and features the ability to locate screws on the door interior, whether the door is of left or right hand hanging type and allows hinge bearing plate insertion either side. The geometry of the side plates is such that when fitted together their form hinge bearing plate reception cavities which are symmetrical w.r.t. the central plane of the glass sheet and fashioned in the external faces of the side plates. Side plate assembly provides symmetrical cavities since one side plate reveals a 'T' shape recess when viewed it transverse section with a perpendicularly projecting bar.
