The invalid chair has two large rear wheels (13) and one single front wheel (6). A single reciprocating hand lever (1) is mounted on one side of the chair and is fitted with a handgrip (4) which is twisted in order to steer the single front wheel. The lever is coupled to a freewheel drive on one rear wheel by an arm (11) whose attachment point on the operating lever is adjustable. This enables the mechanical advantage of the system to be adjusted to suit the ability of the user. The lever is reciprocated to drive the chair, and is moved in a transverse setting to disengage the drive. A gear lever (31) increases the range of the transmission. |
