摘要 1407500 Automatic control of position ROHR INDUSTRIES Inc 25 Sept 1972 [8 May 1972] 44273/72 Heading G3R [Also in Division B7] In a vehicle, sprung and unsprung portions are inter-connected by an attractive magnetic suspension and damping system in which the field strength of electromagnets carried by the sprung portion is controlled in response to its vertical movement so as to maintain a predetermined spaced relationship between the sprung and unsprung portions. Both the gap and vertical accelerations are measured. The suspension system, which may be applied to wheeled, air cushion or magnetic suspension of the unsprung portion, comprises opposed lengths of rail 42 on the sprung and unsprung portions respectively, that on the former carrying a winding which is energized to produce magnetic attraction from a three phase power source 39 controlled in response to signals from a position transducer 22 which measures the gap between said rails and at least a vertical accelerometer 20. The signals are used in the network shown, details of which are given in Specification No. 1385212 which relates to suspension (and propulsion) of a vehicle with respect to a track. The object is to produce a linear gap 1 suspension force relationship. The system is duplicated for the other side of the vehicle (lower half of Fig.4) and a transverse accelerometer may provide additional signals, directly to one side and inverted to the other, to provide deliberate inclination of the vehicle when cornering.
