Wiper for rotary photogravure printing machine - wiper plate rubs across plate cylinder at adjustable pressure

The tangentially positioned wiper consists of e.g. a 0.2mm thick wiper plate mounted at one end in a holder in such a way that its free end can take up the tangential alignment with the cylinder. An adjustable pressure can be exerted on the free end of the wiper plate by a pressure unit whereby the pressure is transmitted via a rigid rubber head of a pressure spindle to the rear side of the wiper plate. The wiper plate is made from e.g. cold rolled carbon steel containing 1% carbon and exhibiting a tensile strength of 240 and a Wicherts hardness of 500 to 600 Kpd/mm2. The printing ink is typically a viscous ink containing around 50% toluene.
