Liq. or gas pressure signal generator - has no adverse reaction on medium when used for fuel injection

The signal generator can be used e.g. to produce a signal representing fuel pressure in diesel engine fuel injection pipes. The stresses in the pipe wall (1) caused by the pressure are detected, the magnetostrictive effect of the pipe material is utilized, and the flux variation in the pipe wall is measured. Pref. the wall of the pipe (1) is magnetized and a coil (3) wound round the pipe and the pipe wall itself act as a detector. The coil may also be used to magnetize the pipe. This arrangement is robust since the pipe does not have to be bored and the windings can be made vibration and temperature proof.
