The work head carries several lever assemblies (19) arranged concentrically around the drive shaft. The inner (20) of the levers act as fly balls, and the outer ends (21) carry the cutters (22). Springs hold the cutting ends in the open position when at rest. To ensure that all the levers move by the same amount when the tool rotates projections (31) on their inner ends engage with slots in a guide plate which can rotate with respect to the shaft. Thus the combined centrifugal action of all the levers is evenly spread amongst them all and the cutting ends all move in by the same amount. The tool can also be adapted for twisting cables.
