The plies are arranged so that the adjacent plies are oriented at 90 degrees to each other. The number of plies may vary from three to five. Additionally there may be a paper layer 7 and a " Cellophane " layer 8 against the silver electrode 2. All the components are impregnated with KOH. Additional cadmium oxide depolarizer 9 may be provided.
