1426703 Applying metal foil blanks to bottles JAGENBERG-WERKE AG 9 May 1974 [15 May 1973] 20460/74 Heading B8F A method of applying metal foil blanks 5 to bottles or like containers comprises automatically applying gum to a blank removal member 3, bringing the gummed removal member into contact with a stack 6 of blanks and removing a single blank from the stack, folding over the leading edge of the blank during transport to a gripper cylinder 8, engaging the folded edge by a gripper 7, and transferring the blank to a moving container. The edge of the blank to be folded overlaps the leading edge of the gummed removal member to avoid application of gum to the blank edge. The folding operation is performed through 180 degrees by folding members 11, 12 in two steps. A blank is stuck laterally to the neck of a bottle 10 moving on a conveyer 9 when released by the gripper 7, and the bottle is then rotated so that the blank is folded around the neck, pressed down and then smoothed. |
