Coupling for propulsion unit and marine load carrier - locating arm on carrier guides unit into docking position

The rear end of the load carrier (1) has a profiled central cut-out into which the propulsion unit (3) is fitted to power the carrier. The propulsion unit can operate independently between carriers. In order to make the docking action simpler, especially in heavy seas, the load carrier is fitted with a locating arm (15) extending rearwards over the cut-out. The top of the propulsion unit is provided with a groove, profiled to fit the arm. The propulsion unit slides into the docking position along the arm and the two vessels are secured by special rams which move coupling wedges (33) into coupling slots on the vessels.
