The arrangement comprises a cylindrical head provided at one end face with a number of circumferentially spaced forming dies. Each die is provided with a push-out element and plungers are arranged facing the dies and carrying forming tools whose positions correspond with those of the dies. The head is driven by a mechanism comprising a friction coupling and a pawl and ratchet assembly on the head. The head may be of the rotary indexing type. The arrangement may be such that each stroke of the plunger represents one complete multi-stage forming cycle.
