<p>The spaces (3) such as holds of a ship from which material is to be sucked are connected to the conveying pump (1) with a branch connection to the vacuum vessel (4). This is mounted at a suitable height above the suction reservoir (5) and is connected to it by a pipe (6) which dips below the level of the water in the reservoir. The pipe (6) contains float switches (11, 12, 13) which are activated by the standing column of water according to the vacuum reached and control two water ring vacuum pumps (16, 17) which are mounted at the sides of the reservoir (5). The input to the pumps runs through the inside of the reservoir and through a pipe (25) to the vacuum vessel (4).</p> |
