In the mfr. of a cotexturised bundle yarn composed of two yarn components of the same or different polymers (such as polyamide 66 or polyester) each component is a bundle yarn and one is wound round the other as a core with change zones between left and right windings. The wound component is 20-50% longer than the core component. The change zones are incorporated at a rate of 300-700 per metre, with more than 25% of the change zones so constructed that there is an open yarn structure where the core is more or less visible. The wound component in the remaining change zones lies closely packed round the core. Between the change zones, the wound yarn component is tightly wound, the sum of the wound zones representing 25-75% of the total yarn length. The process allows the manufacture of a yarn with a wool character and handle, with a mixture of colours to give special effects when worked into a fabric.
|
