The dust-laden air surrounding the harvesting machine is drawn by a fan (16) through a perforated horizontal cylinder (42, 32) and passes, cleaned air to the machine's radiator (12) and, after further cleaning (via 112) to its diesel engine cylinders. The perforated filter cylinder is slowly rotated so that adhering fragments can fall away as they pass beneath a suction shield (48). It has proved difficult to keep unfiltered air from finding its way between the rotating cylinder and the stationary parts of the machine, the difficulty is overcome by positioning the fan within the cylinder. At the end of the cylinder the air passage widens (28), creating a pressure in excess of atmospheric at this point and preventing the entry of unfiltered air (at 44).
|
