1492519 Printing presses KOENIG & BAUER AG 8 April 1976 [13 May 1975] 14444/76 Heading B6C A web-fed rotary printing press comprises two press sections 11 and 12, each comprising a printing unit and a folder, the drives of which are interrelated so that, in operation, the circumferential speeds of the forme cylinders are different in a predetermined ratio; and a device 5 for collating the products of the two press sections to form a final product, e.g. a newspaper. The drive may be, as shown, by a shaft having an adjustable gearbox 13 between the sections. Alternatively, one section could produce a signal indicative of the speed thereof which is used to control the speed of the second section. The first and second sections may comprise a number of printing units, and the units are preferably arranged to perfect the webs passing therethrough. The folder may be arranged to deliver the product in various alternative ways to the collators, which again may be used in alternative ways to achieve different final products. |
