<p>1499895 Linerless screw cap MACK-WAYNE PLASTICS CO 28 April 1975 [7 June 1975] 17619/75 Heading B8T An internally screw-threaded cap comprises a resilient annular sleeve 24 and, spaced radially inwardly of the sleeve, a concentric annular bead 22 depending from a top wall 12, such that the sleeve, in an unflexed condition, is defined by frusto-conical surfaces, but on applying the cap to a container, the sleeve is pressed by an upper surface 44 of the neck into engagement with the bead to form a seal directly above the surface 44 with both frusto-conical surfaces downwardly convex. The bead is flexible and both the bead and sleeve taper from their unions with the top wall to distal ends. The sleeve at the union with the top wall is capable of being compressed to reduce its diameter to avoid wrinkling. The cap skirt has axial grooves 18 and a ratchet configuration 16 for co-operating with a safety cap mechanism of the container. In an alternative embodiment the bead has a V-shaped cross-section.</p> |
