PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of environmental destruction due to generation of a large amount of carbon dioxide and an increase in electric energy cost in a conventional magnesium metal production method.SOLUTION: In a magnesium metal production method, magnesium metal is obtained by exposing an anhydrous magnesium halide to plasma in a reducing gas atmosphere under a reduced pressure equal to or lower than the atmospheric pressure and causing an exothermic reaction of the anhydrous magnesium halide by active species to reduce the anhydrous magnesium halide.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
