The transformer serves on the primary side for connection to three partial invertors which supply to the primary of the transformer three voltages which are phase-shifted by 30 DEG in each case, and is used for connection on the secondary side to a single-phase AC power supply. The transformer has an integral core with three wound core looms, for the three phase-shifted voltages. In order to keep the transformer free of a return path, or to provide for the magnetic return path at a low cost, the cross-section of the centre limb (2) is 2ROOT 3 times the respective cross-section of the two other limbs (1, 3) and the number of turns on the primary winding (21) of the centre limb 1 DIVIDED 2ROOT 3 times the number of turns on the respective primary winding (11, 31) of the outer limbs.
