<p>The static exercising machine has oscillating handle bars, enables exercise to be taken in a confined space, and extends the usual leg exercise to include the trunk. The machine constitutes a floor mounted chassis (15) bearing respectively fixed and articulating saddle (2) and handle bar (8) support columns (1, 7). The handle bar column (7) supports the pedal axle (14) and a polygonally profiled disc (11) which acts on a chassis fixed roller (3) to impart handle bar column oscillation. Two rod linkage systems (6) running longitudinally down the handle bar column (7) enable the handle bar column to be locked against oscillation by engaging the end of a link between the column and a transverse bar (6) on the chassis. A lever (14) adjustable spring (12) restrains the lower handle bar column end, enabling effort required to move the column to be varied, the machine requiring a rowing type action to manoeuvre the handle bars.</p> |
