An appts. is claimed for the mfr. of velvet pile fabric, using A Raschel machine with the knitting and pin needles alternately in a row. A sinker is positioned between each needle and each pin needle to move in a reciprocating action to form and shape the laid pile loop by its projection as it is developed by the needles. The design gives a mechanical manipulation of the - pile loop released by the pin needle and to bring it to the reverse side of the fabric.
