PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plug connector which can be produced easily, is excellent in cost-effectiveness, can be easily handled and enables a reliable mechanical and electrical connection of a plug connector and a mating plug connector.SOLUTION: A plug connector 1 for a mechanical and electrical connection to a corresponding mating plug connector includes a housing 2, a protective conductor bridge 3 and a plug insert. The protective conductor bridge is held on the housing. The protective conductor bridge has at least one connection region for a connection to the plug insert.
