An open, hollow glass body si made where the upper part blends downwards into a base used as a pedestal. A ring mould (a) is placed on top of a cup mould (b) and the resultant mould cavity filled with a glass gob. The moulds (a,b) are then turned upside down so mould na) rests on a base plate (c). Mould (b) is removed so part of the glass gob projects upwards out of the ring mould (a), i.e. it is unsupported. A blow pipe is pushed into the projecting part of the gob, which is blown to form a hollow bowl above a solid base formed by mould (a). Used e.g. for the mfr. of vases where the bowl has a varying size and/or shape, so that identical vases are not produced which would occur by normal mass prodn. methods. The invention produces vases with individual shapes and a smooth outer dia. on the bowl.
|
