<p>1504925 Fabric softener and antistatic carriers PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 16 April 1975 [16 April 1974 (2) 23 Jan 1975 (2)] 15627/75 Heading DIP A known fabric softener dispensing means carries for release onto fabrics during drying in a tumble drier a known fabric softening sorbitan ester of a fatty alkyl or alkenyl acid having at least 10 (preferably 10 to 26) carbon atoms and optionally substituted e.g. with hydroxyl. Sorbitan is a mixture of the alcohols shown. A mono ester, diester or a mixture of esters may be used. Specified acids are lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, behenate, coconut alkyl and tallow alkyl and mixtures thereof. Known cationic softening and antistatic agents e.g. ditallowalkyldimethylammonium methylsulphate may be mixed with the sorbitan ester to form a composition comprising 0.1 to 95% by weight of sorbitan ester and 5 to 99.9% by wt. of the cationic softener. Bis-(styrylsulphonate) biphenyl (optical brightener) and p-chlorophenyl (biocide) may also be present. The dispensing means may be a hollow foam sphere or a sheet of paper or woven or non-woven fabric. Preferably the sheet is slit or perforated to prevent blockage of the dryer exhaust outlet. The sheet may be impregnated or coated with the 10 to 0.5 times its weight of softener. Fabrics of cotton and/or polyester may be softened.</p> |
