The balance determines the ratio of unknown components of esp. a food mix. When one lever side is loaded with the unknown weight, it inclines by a certain angle corresponding to a certain weight balanced by a counter-weight. The angle of inclination is read on a scale. The other lever end (13) has like the first lever end (A), a suspension or supporting element (1214) for placing or suspending an unknown weight forming the counterweight. The scale (10) is calibrated in ratios representing the ratio, or a function of the ratio of the two weights balancing each other.
