Each tyre is fitted with a spring loaded pressure monitor incorporating a membrane constantly under pressure from the tyre and operating a set of electric contacts which connect an oscillator to a battery. The signal is activated when the pressure drops to a set level, and is picked up by a central receiver linked to a warning system. The tension of the spring can be adjusted so that the monitor can be set to any pressure level, to fit different vehicles, and to cater for different loadings. A universal fitting monitor is thus obtained.
