The machine for use in the transverse cutting of cellular concrete blocks uses vacuum to secure the block during cutting and uses a moving wire (19) to effect the cut. The machine has pairs of horizontal elongated hollow rectangular sections (6) mounted below the bar of a sub-frame. The sections have perforations (7) in their bottom flanges and serve as ducts from the vacuum source. A round section rail (9) is welded to the top flange of each section (6) to form a track for a trolley from which the cutting wire is suspended. The trolley has wheels with a concave semi-circular rim (23), and the wire passes through an interval between the two beams.
